The week of October 16th was the second week in which our team officially worked on our capstone project. Currently, we have selected the topics which we have chosen to find problem statements for: cars, computer vision syndrome, diabetes, hiking, and running. We are working on forming broad problem statements for those topics and will hopefully have them and the more manageable problem statements selected by Monday.
We are working on our branding, struggling in particular with forming a team name. Our uncertainty stems from our desire to choose a team name that reflects our final topic. Perhaps we should settle on a name that reflects us instead of the project.
Finally, we have yet to complete our Project Management Summary Proposal, which is due on Friday. This is probably the area which we are struggling with the most: we barely have a tenth of it complete. Maybe our hesitancy to complete it stems from our disorganization: although we have a Gantt Chart set up, we fail to complete our given tasks on time, such as our problem statements. Maybe it is because the topic material contained within is unfamiliar: none of us seem to know how to identify team resources or lay out a design process, despite it seeming fairly simple to do. Or maybe we have too much other stuff to do to even bother with it too much: the due date, although rapidly growing closer, still seems fairly far away.
To improve upon our process of completing our tasks, I would like to clearly set out all of the activities that our team needs to complete in a specific day. I would like to portion out the larger tasks such that it is easier to complete them and that they are worked on before the last minute. How I will do this, I do not yet know, but I will talk with my teammates, Teagan and Sophia, tomorrow to see what we can do about scheduling.
