Over the past few weeks, DOC Products wrote up a final problem statement and submitted it to both peers and experts for review. Their current problem statement is as follows:

According to the National Park Services, 2,348 search-and-rescue missions were conducted in 2013 and 2,658 in 2014 as a result of hikers losing their way. Thirty-five of the missions resulted in a fatality (Parker, 2017).

DOC Products additionally searched for artifacts which solved a similar problem to their own. They also created a survey analyzing if the population of hikers needs and/or wants such a device and distributed it to people via Facebook. Finally, they began to complete C3.2, which is due by their midterm; as of now, it is due on January 23rd, but the date may change since their school had two snow days last week.
